My Best Friends Wedding - Dessert Bar!

Written by soundimage21 on July 14th, 2010

Jessica and Mark at the Sacramento LDS Temple

So one of my bestest friends Jessica got married to her very sweet husband Mark May 15th at the Sacramento LDS temple. She then had her Reception later in her moms backyard. We have been friends since High School; I was a loser and she was so cool and opinionated! :D I looked and still do look up to her and how she stands up for herself and for what she believes in. We both have very hectic life styles so try to get together once a month with our other bestie Meagen for a girls night. Jess and I can go months without talking and we just pick up where we left off. I love that because I don’t have a lot of time to invest in friendships, unless it’s work related which is good but it’s nice to not be “all work”.

Jessica and Mark at the Sacramento LDS Temple

Jess and Mark wanted a very simple but elegant wedding where they could take the time to enjoy everyone’s company. It was casual but they really took the time to talk to everyone that came to celebrate their big day. She wanted to do a Dessert Bar instead of a formal dinner. Well for those of you that don’t know I LOVE to bake! I may not be the best and I definitely know “Real Professionals” that could do it better but I still enjoy it. So I was in… she tried to be silly and say she was going to do it but I told her I got this! I recruited Brandon’s mom Vivian (one of the most AMAZING women you will ever meet!!!) to help out. Jess and I worked out the menu and Vivian and I got to work. We did it ALL…

We had mini cheesecakes, cookies (Chocolate chip, lace, strawberry filled heart sugar cookies, Peanut Butter), chocolate dipped strawberries, chocolate dipped pretzel chips and shortbread sticks, fruit bowls, mini cupcakes galore (strawberry, chocolate, spice, white), mini brownie bites, mini lemon topped cake and candy. It turned out so pretty if I do say so myself! All these pictures were done by my amateur photographer husband. Brandon enjoys taking pictures from time to time, and no we will NOT be offering photography so no worries! I really enjoyed being a part of her special day. Mark is so good to her and I love Jess as if she was my sister. I love seeing her so happy! Congrats Mark and Jess!!!

Featured Vendor: Tinywater Photography - Gabe and Karen’s Wedding

Tinywater Photography, Sacramento, Napa and San Francisco

So in our prior post “Karen and Gabe’s “Entertaining” wedding at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento” we talked a little about the photographers we got to work with, Caroline and Daniel. We really think they did an awesome job so wanted to spot light them. :)

Browsing through their beautiful website we learned a lot about them. A little about Caroline and Daniel is their uniqueness with their photography. “Classically trained artisans, Caroline is educated as a designer who marries the mood of the clients she photographs with individualized concepts for each shoot, while Daniel complements sessions with his own offbeat yet romantic style and caters to the business side of the studio.”

We so enjoyed them and recommend taking the time to look at their website and blog to learn more about them and see how they capture so many gorgeous weddings!

They also sent us pictures from Gabe and Karen’s wedding which we just had to share. And a link to Karen and Gabe’s slideshow

Karen and Gabe’s “Entertaining” wedding at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento

Written by soundimage21 on June 22nd, 2010

Hyatt Regency Sacramento, uplighting pink

Karen and Gabe were married May 7 and we had the absolute pleasure of doing their Reception at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Sacramento. We provided DJ, MC, Entertainment Coordination and Lighting (pictures provided by us) for them. It was the perfect location for their big day. Their Ceremony was at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Downtown Sacramento so it was close and they had lots of guests traveling so having the convenience of a hotel was awesome and very accommodating. On top of it all the staff at the Hyatt rocks. So professional and so willing to help and work with all the vendors there. We had a great team!

Alison Ulshoffer with Alison Ulshoffer Events and Design was the reason we had an awesome team. One of our favorite wedding planners by far! She is the sweetest, hardest working, funnest person to work with. She worked with Karen and Gabe to create a beautiful wedding with all the little details. It was BREATH TAKING! We had the BEST flowers by the talented Martha Andrews with Blooms by Martha Andrews. We are at many weddings and florists just have a signature, it can be the same flowers or bouquet but something makes it different. We ALWAYS know who we are working with and if it’s a professional or not. She is one of the top in Sacramento for sure! We also had a dessert bar instead of traditional cake. They add so much to an event we think and are really unique and full of variety. We have “known” about Carissa with Sugar and Spice Specialty Desserts and briefly met her once but haven’t had a chance to work a wedding with her. Well she did not disappoint. The spread was BEAUTIFUL, almost to pretty too eat… almost. :) She even stayed when it was open to guests and tended to it, it really made a difference!

Ok enough about our FAB vendors, now on to the bride and groom!! When we met these two we HOPED they would book because of how adorable she was and how they complimented each other so well. They are very different but mesh so well. It was exciting to plan with them. They had so many ideas and to make their wedding entertaining for their guests but also wanted to dance! So we did bride and groom trivia during dinner (each table had a card with a question on it about the bride and groom, the guests had multiple choice to choose from) while the guests were being served. They wanted to involve their guests so we went around before dinner and assigned a reader at each table to read the questions to the guests as a whole. It was fun for them to all interact with each other and try and get the answer right. We also did a type of Newlywed game where the bride and groom sat back to back on the dance floor and we asked who’s more likely to… We had bride and groom dolls and they held up which doll they thought the question applied to the most. They actually did very well. Another fun thing they did was Karen threw the Garter on a football they both signed (They love football!) and Gabe threw the bouquet. The night went great.

Their photographers were wonderful. We have seen them everywhere but this was our first chance to work with them. Caroline and Daniel with Tinywater Photography were working Karen and Gabe. Karen was like a model, she was striking a pose left and right. They also surprised the guests with a photo montage of their pictures toward the end of the night with pictures taken throughout the day. It was nice seeing the ceremony since we weren’t there.  I didn’t have any pictures of their wedding yet but I wanted to throw up some from their engagement session. It is AWESOME!!! Here is a link to more of Karen and Gabe from Tinywater Photography. (Fun side note: Karen and Gabe were featured on {San Fransisco Styled Unveiled} Bride in the City, and these pictures just popped off the computer! Here’s a link to their post.)

Scott and Katherine’s Marie Antoinette themed wedding

Scott and Katherine's Wedding at The Lodge at the Four Seasons in El Dorado Hills

Scott and Katherine were married May 1st. We had the opportunity to provide lighting for their beautiful wedding. The Reception took place at the Lodge at the Four Seasons in El Dorado Hills. The picture above was provided by their photographer Travis Hoehne with Travis Hoehne Photography. He caught this gorgeous picture of them and their wedding party. He does some amazing work, be sure to check out his website!

No detail was over looked, from the shrimp rack ice sculpture to the flowers to the cake and lighting. It set the mood for the whole night. We provided paper lanterns for the patio as you can see in the picture above. Below are some pictures we took of our lighting and their dramatic Marie Antoinette themed cake by the fabulous Lisa Marie with the Sweetest Things. She did this cake prior at an event that we blogged about: Let Them Eat Cake - Marie Antoinette Theme at Antiquite Maison Privee. When Katherine saw it she knew it would be perfect for her wedding. The over the top topper really threw this design through the roof.

Brittany’s Super Sweet 16: NYC Style

Written by soundimage21 on June 13th, 2010

Brittany's Sweet 16 invitation

So my (Kami) sister was turning 16 and in April we threw her a party at our house. She is a lucky girl! ;) I did all the food which was fun, I just love to host parties for our friends and family. Brandon did her invite which is a hobby he loves. Anyways, being in the wedding industry we have LOTS of amazing professional friends. I get to see a lot and learn a lot but the one default is I have seen AMAZING! So it may have been a little overboard but I don’t care. Go big or go home right??!!

Brittany's Sweet 16 party, sacramento

All these amazing pictures were by our beautiful, talented, amazing friend Rachelle with Rachelle Photography. She came to take some pictures and she caught the excitement and goofy-ness of my my sister. I had the sugary sweet, adorable Lisa Marie with the Sweetest Things do her NYC style cake. She blew us all away. She is by far one of our favorites, Brandon isn’t a huge sweets person but he LOVES her cake. My sister is simple and likes white cake with vanilla frosting. Lisa Marie came up with an extraordinary way to accommodate but not be too boring.  SOOO YUMMY! We sent Brit off the get her hair and make-up done by my wonderful friend Holly Meager from Salon on Madison Ave. She has done my hair for years and is always first on my list! All these people were surprises to Brit, she didn’t know about any of it!

We used our new Photo Booth for her party too. It was a hit, most of the kids that came probably have never seen the things they saw. Again she is a lucky girl. :) Here is most the kids and one of her favorite photo booth pictures with her boyfriend:

A Families Happily Ever After for Steven and Jillian at Timber Creek Ballroom

Written by soundimage21 on June 13th, 2010

Steven and Jillian's Wedding at Sun City Roseville, Timber Creek Ballroom

Are they just not the CUTEST??!! So I am super behind on wedding posts so stayed tuned for more! We did Steven and Jillian’s wedding in April. We planned with Jillian since Steven is in the military and was stationed elsewhere. We heard all about him every time we talked to her though so it was like we knew him when we met the wedding day. She would light up every time she mentioned his name, it was so adorable.

Steven and Jillian's Wedding at Sun City Roseville, Timber Creek Ballroom

They had the Ceremony and Reception at the ALWAYS amazing Sun City Roseville Timber Creek Ballroom. Jenny the Coordinator there is so phenomenal and her staff is by far some of the best!! Even though she wasn’t there her room captain was a close clone. :) The staff is always smiling, accommodating and working so hard. Their Ceremony was outside on the beautiful patio, they had a live musician Motoshi Kosako who played a lovely harp for their Ceremony music and cocktail hour.

We then moved inside for the rest of the reception. Even though it was a day wedding the Timber Creek Ballroom has beautiful curtains and romantic lighting that set the mood for the afternoon. It was a simple but a very memorable wedding. All their guests and family were so happy for them and so very sweet. The toasts were some of the best we have heard, it was just such a pleasure to be a part of their day. Here are their song choices:

Edwin and Madeline’s rockin’ Firehouse Wedding

Written by soundimage21 on April 27th, 2010

Ed and Madeline's Wedding at the Firehouse in Old Sac

We are so glad we were able to be a part of Madeline and Ed’s wedding March 27. Their wedding took place at the beautiful Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento. It was a perfect day with perfect weather and the perfect guests. The Firehouse is such a beautiful venue offering outside and inside locations for your Ceremony and Reception. Ed and Madeline had their lovely Ceremony outside in their Courtyard and the Reception upstairs in their Golden Eagle Room. We love working their because of the atmosphere, staff and overall feeling you get while your there.

Ed and Madeline's Wedding at the Firehouse in Old Sac

Something different we did at their wedding that we’d like to share was their receiving line. I know I know, a receiving line takes too much time and is long and drug out, blah blah blah. Well when our clients come to us and want to do something different or that has been done before but does not have the best experience/reputation then we try and find a way to fix it and make it work for them! We will try our best to never tell you no… :)

Ed and Madeline's Wedding at the Firehouse in Old Sac

So what did we do different? Well we had it right after the ceremony as the guests made their way upstairs to the ballroom. Ed and Madeline stood at the bottom of the stairs while guests greeted them, gave them hugs and made their way upstairs to the ballroom. The idea behind it was that since they had to go upstairs and there was only one way to get there guests would keep it moving along (and they did). Also we limited it to just Ed, Madeline and their parents where before we have had the whole wedding party on top of that (that’s where it can eat your time). It was less than a half hour for approximately 100 guests. They got their mingling in before they ran off to finish pictures during their cocktail hour. What this also did that was a concern for Ed and Madeline was help with the flow of the Reception. They wanted things to keep moving along once the reception started. So after dinner since they were able to say hi to each and every guest they didn’t feel the need to rush from table to table to try and say hi to everyone in a group setting; instead we were able to keep the night rolling right along. Now would I say this would work for everyone. Nope not at all, and would be more difficult for larger weddings. But it’s what they wanted so it’s what they got! All the pictures in the post are courtesy of Chelle Liz Photography (currently located in Oregon). Here are some fun pictures of their wedding party, what a GREAT ENERGETIC group:

Ed and Madeline's Wedding at the Firehouse in Old Sac

Now we had a crazy group of dancers. Here are Ed and Madeline’s song choices, they are both music enthusiasts and went to school for music so it was fun to see them work out the details of what the “perfect” songs would be. Also here’s a few more pictures of the dancing portion of the evening:

AfWPi Mixer “A Very Merry UnBirthday” at Winchester Country Club

AfWPi mixer, Winchester Country Club

Last Tuesday we had the opportunity to DJ, MC and provide ambience lighting service for a mixer for Associations for Wedding Professionals Int. (AfWPi) at Winchester Country Club in Meadow Vista. Darcie Carrier, the wedding Coordinator at Winchester in such a sweetheart! She works sooo hard and is one of the best for sure!! The theme: “A Very Merry UnBirthday” from Alice in Wonderland. We had a lot of fun with the lighting design. She wanted lots of colors! It was fun and unique, not something you may see at a wedding but LOTS of FUN! We also projected a mini slideshow of some pictures from the tea party from the “Alice in Wonderland” movie on the ceiling. Here’s some picture of the room thanks to Jeff Sharpe with Sharpe Photographers, thanks for bringing your camera Jeff. We are sure you never leave home without it. :)

We had few awesome featured vendors participating. We of course had the beautiful Winchester Country Club, Shelley with Pizzazz Event Planning (her table was so pretty), Liza with Golden Gourmet (for all of our yummy food) and the oh so DELICIOUS Rebecca with Sweet Cakes by Rebecca. We didn’t know Rebecca before the “Let Them Eat Cake Event” but she has been added to our preferred vendor list! We just love her. She had a beautiful table (which we are not surprised since she won Best Table Presentation at LTECE), brought a fabulous “UnBirthday” Cake for the centerpiece and TONS of mini cupcakes for our tea party table for us to enjoy. I LOVE SUGAR. :) Liza provided the food, she had 4 yummy stations FULL of food. The soup we drank out of mini tea cups which fit the theme perfectly. Here’s a highlight video of the night provided by the talented Phil with Sheffield Multimedia, thanks Phil!

Why do we attend these mixers or participate? They give us so many advantages but one of the best ones is getting to know all our wedding professional friends. We get to network with the best of the best. We learn about all the different and unique things we all offer, we can refer QUALITY PROFESSIONALS and it helps us better ourselves and our companies for our clients! We want to give you all that we can and be the very best we can be here at Sound Image Entertainment!! Here is a picture of some DJ friends from the mixer, thanks Greg for the photo:

The “Let Them Eat Cake” event was for brides to be to have a relaxed environment while they got to eat cake and yummy other desserts from some of the top Bakeries/Bakers in Sacramento. Kristina Smith with Wish Bridal put on this event and it was the first of it’s kind. We provided DJ, Emcee and ambience lighting for this event and what a beautiful and perfect venue for it! Antiquite Maison Privee is a newer location but so beautiful, rustic and artistic. We had eight Wedding Cake decorators decorate some amazing cakes with our Marie Antoinette theme. They also had the opportunity to have a table to show off other work they do so we had LOT and LOTS of sweets!! The fabulous and of course one of our favs Mimi & Company provided all the linens, they are crazy! Here is a highlight video from Jeff Sharpe of Sharpe Photographers, you get to see a little about how GORGEOUS it all looked and DELICIOUS. Thanks Jeff:

A few more shout outs to others who were a part of making this happen: Shelley Larkin with Pizzazz Event Planning, the adorable Audrey with Botanica Floral Design did all the stunning flowers, Carmen Salazar-Burke with Carmen Salazar Photography, can’t wait to see her pics, Calligraphy Girl did the custom name tags, Invitation ink, Vintage Carriage Co. showcased their Cinderella Carriage and last but definitely not least Chocolate Fountains Delite for the yummy chocolate fountain.
