Chris and Courtney’s Destination Wedding: Rustic Barn Uplighting

Up Lighting in a Barn

This barn was a hidden treasure. When we got the call from Katy Higgins from Cosmopolitan Events to assist with some lighting needs we were so excited! Katy’s clients Chris and Courtney were looking to create a atmosphere that was unlike any other. No detail was overlooked. From the extravagant centerpieces to the wall pieces to the classic cars it was an event to remember.

Chris and Courtney are from Southern California and the barn was in Lake Almanor in Northern California. A destination wedding it had to be! She knew what she wanted and was able with the help from her wedding planner Katy to create this magical romantic setting. With no electricity available we provided electricity, functional lighting, parking lot lighting and ambiance lighting for inside the barn. It was A LOT of lighting. We trekked up there Friday for set up and the wedding took place on Saturday then tear down on Sunday.  Schnack Studios captured all the beauty of this wedding. They did a PHENOMENAL job. Beware pictures galore!! I couldn’t just pick a few they capture so much detail. Enjoy!

Josh and Lana’s Destination Wedding and Hometown Reception

Destination Weddings by Sharpe Photographers

This cute couple was married Thursday the 11th in Lake Tahoe and then had their reception in his parents backyard in Fair Oak on Saturday. It was a very laid back wedding, everyone there was enjoying themselves and just visiting. Mostly everything was do it yourself so not a lot of vendors. A cute idea they did was blow up some of the Ceremony pictures from Tahoe and had two huge banners with their pictures. That way it included the guests that weren’t at the Ceremony. Lana’s nieces also sung some songs and played the piano which was so sweet. The family was so close and it was not the typical wedding. They really took the time to enjoy the reception and kept the ceremony intimate to their closest family members. We don’t have any pictures from there wedding but here are a few of destination weddings by Sharpe Photographers! Also here are their song selections:

Eddie and Lindsey

We were so honored to be called by Lindsey’s dad Mike to do his daughters wedding April 18. They live in Solvang, Ca (by Santa Barbara) and had their wedding there. We were happy to travel there to be a part of their wedding. It was cool that out of all the people he called in the surrounding areas he chose us all the way up in Sacramento. We think this wedding was almost perfect!

We did things a lot different than we usually do but we pulled it off! The schedule was really different but we think it flowed great. They had 250 or so guests in their backyard. They had a huge tent with 25 tables. They also had a lounge area with a smaller tent with wicker furniture and the bar which was great for the guests to relax and get away. The food was in stations which helped with the flow of the lines, people just went to the stations they wanted. Their cake was so beautiful and all the lighting. Her dad hired a lighting company to do all the lighting and no detail was over looked. Their backyard was an “L” shape. The Ceremony was along the side and the reception and lounge area was on the bottom.

We met them Friday and had the rehearsal that night as well. We hit it off right away, their family is amazing. The Wedding was Saturday and it was a long day but was AWESOME! Eddie and Lindsey had amazing guests and family and almost everyone stayed to the end. We are so glad we were able to be a part of it all! We also made it a family trip and brought the kids and my sister to watch them while we worked. Here’s a few pics and their songs:

They did these themselves

They also did these centerpieces by themselves. They bought the flowers and had a florist show them how to do it, we got to help too. If you are looking to do some yourself these are awesome flowers to do, so easy to work with. Also something cool we did was they had all their couples at the wedding in a basket and every time they had to kiss (from the clinking on the glasses) then we pulled a name out and they got to kiss too. It was a fun way to get the guests involved and for the older ones to show them how it’s done :)
