Ed and Madeline's Wedding at the Firehouse in Old Sac

We are so glad we were able to be a part of Madeline and Ed’s wedding March 27. Their wedding took place at the beautiful Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento. It was a perfect day with perfect weather and the perfect guests. The Firehouse is such a beautiful venue offering outside and inside locations for your Ceremony and Reception. Ed and Madeline had their lovely Ceremony outside in their Courtyard and the Reception upstairs in their Golden Eagle Room. We love working their because of the atmosphere, staff and overall feeling you get while your there.

Something different we did at their wedding that we’d like to share was their receiving line. I know I know, a receiving line takes too much time and is long and drug out, blah blah blah. Well when our clients come to us and want to do something different or that has been done before but does not have the best experience/reputation then we try and find a way to fix it and make it work for them! We will try our best to never tell you no… :)

So what did we do different? Well we had it right after the ceremony as the guests made their way upstairs to the ballroom. Ed and Madeline stood at the bottom of the stairs while guests greeted them, gave them hugs and made their way upstairs to the ballroom. The idea behind it was that since they had to go upstairs and there was only one way to get there guests would keep it moving along (and they did). Also we limited it to just Ed, Madeline and their parents where before we have had the whole wedding party on top of that (that’s where it can eat your time). It was less than a half hour for approximately 100 guests. They got their mingling in before they ran off to finish pictures during their cocktail hour. What this also did that was a concern for Ed and Madeline was help with the flow of the Reception. They wanted things to keep moving along once the reception started. So after dinner since they were able to say hi to each and every guest they didn’t feel the need to rush from table to table to try and say hi to everyone in a group setting; instead we were able to keep the night rolling right along. Now would I say this would work for everyone. Nope not at all, and would be more difficult for larger weddings. But it’s what they wanted so it’s what they got! All the pictures in the post are courtesy of Chelle Liz Photography (currently located in Oregon). Here are some fun pictures of their wedding party, what a GREAT ENERGETIC group:

Now we had a crazy group of dancers. Here are Ed and Madeline’s song choices, they are both music enthusiasts and went to school for music so it was fun to see them work out the details of what the “perfect” songs would be. Also here’s a few more pictures of the dancing portion of the evening:

Andreas and Laura’s “Simple” Wedding

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Simple but elegant. Laura and Andreas are too sweet, they were married May 29 at the rustic Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento. This restaurant has so much history and character. I see why they picked this Venue, it fit their personality and the wedding they wanted. The restaurant is huge with inside and outside dining, our wedding was in the beautiful Courtyard in the back. The ambiance was perfect. Laura and Andreas had such great personalities, very easy going and knew why they were getting married. Their family and friends were so sweet, they were entangled in all the moments and memories of the night.

They had a friend marry them, cute centerpieces of movie covers with the faces photo-shopped of all their friends and family, M&M’s with their names and faces on them which was fun and lovely flowers. The wedding was simple but intimate. It was like we were all a big family and all WANTED to be there. Here is some pictures of the Firehouse Restaurant and their song choices:
